[Take Off] [Article Icon 1] Judge Blocks Sale of Graceland A Memphis judge stopped the foreclosure sale of [Elvis Presley’s iconic Graceland]( estate Wednesday, days after his granddaughter Riley Keough filed a lawsuit saying a company forged documents to force the sale. Keough’s lawsuit claimed Naussany Investments and Private Lending LLC fabricated documents and signatures [to make it appear]( that her deceased mother, Lisa Marie Presley, took out a $3.8 million loan and used Graceland as collateral in 2018. Keough also submitted evidence that her mother never borrowed any money from Nassauny, with a notary public agreeing that they had never notarized anything Lisa Marie had supposedly signed. The judge called Graceland a [unique piece of real estate]( and ruled the property should remain with the Presley family until the validity of the documents could be verified. [Article Icon 1]Daily Pot Use Surpasses Daily Drinking For the first time, the number of Americans who report using marijuana daily [surpasses the number of people]( who say they have a drink every day. An analysis of national survey data shows that in 2022, nearly 18 million people reported using cannabis daily or near-daily, compared to 14.7 million daily or near-daily drinkers. In 1992, less than 1 million people said they used marijuana daily. Overall, far more people drink alcohol than use cannabis, but [40% of current pot users say they’re using it 15-16 days]( a month, while the median drinker reported drinking only four or five days a month. [Article Icon 1] Illinois Eyes Renaming Convicts Illinois lawmakers passed legislation to change the word “offender” to “[justice-impacted individual](” Tuesday in a move Republicans describe as disrespectful to victims of violent crime. House Bill 4409, which passed both houses, is part of a move to help parole-eligible prisoner find alternatives to jail. The new terminology is meant to reduce the stigma of being an “offender.” Republicans claim the Democrat-authored bill removes accountability for people who commit crimes and creates a system that helps the criminal rather than crime victims.
