The move came hours after Hamas agreed to a ceasefire with mediators from Egypt and Qatar. Terms of the ceasefire weren’t disclosed, but officials said it would [take place in stages](, with Hamas releasing hostages it's holding in exchange for Israeli military pullbacks and the release of some Palestinian prisoners. Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu said the ceasefire proposal was “far from Israel’s demands” but that it would continue negotiation. In the meantime, he said, the military operation against Rafah would also continue. [Article Icon 1] Columbia Cancels Main Graduation Event Columbia University, the epicenter of the [ongoing anti-Israel protests]( across the nation, canceled its university-wide commencement ceremony Monday as protesters continue to occupy portions of the campus. Traditionally, Columbia has held graduation ceremonies on its main campus, but demonstrations have forced the May 15 event off campus with a series of smaller ceremonies. Ceremonies at the [University of Michigan](and Northeastern University in Boston have already been interrupted by anti-Israel protesters. Some disruptors carried flags and chanted pro-Palestinian messages, and at least one wore a blood-soaked shirt. The White House described Columbia’s decision as “unfortunate,” while House Speaker Mike Johnson called it [a lack of “moral leadership](.” [Article Icon 1] Trump Held in Contempt Again The judge in Donald Trump’s so-called hush money trial held the former President [in contempt of court again Monday](, warning him that future violations could result in jail time. The latest $1,000 contempt fine was related to comments Trump made last month. The judge said Trump questioned the integrity of the proceedings by saying [the jury was picked fast](and consisted mainly of Democrats. Trump was previously fined $9,000 for nine earlier violations in posts on Truth Social and his website.
