The crossing is now shut down. At the same time, Hamas announced it was [ending ceasefire negotiations]( in Cairo after Israel rejected its demands to end the war. Israeli officials warned of a substantial military operation in the “very near future” into Rafah, Hamas’ last major stronghold in Gaza. Israel also raided a Jerusalem hotel room used by Al Jazeera after the government decided to [shut down the Qatari-owned media outlet’s]( local operations in Israel. The Israelis said the network would remain closed until the war in Gaza ended.
