Simpson Dead at 76 O.J. Simpson, the former football great [who was accused]( of and ultimately acquitted of the brutal 1994 slayings of his ex-wife and her friend, has died. He was 76. Simpson, nicknamed "[The Juice](," rose to fame through his accomplishments on the football field as a Heisman Trophy winner and Hall of Famer. After football, Simpson found success as a sportscaster, an actor, and a corporate spokesman, most notably for Hertz rental cars. Simpson’s legacy and reputation were [tarnished by his arrest](for the 1994 murders of Nicole Brown Simpson and Ronald Goldman. He was acquitted of charges in what was described as “the trial of the century” but was found responsible for the crimes in a civil trial. He would later serve prison time for armed robbery. As news of his death emerged, many celebrities and associates commented, including former friend Caitlyn Jenner, who posted [“Good Riddance”]( on social media.
