Now, let me explain why this fight is so important:
As the son of sharecroppers in rural Alabama, I was surrounded by segregation and inequality as a child.
I was denied a library card because of the color of my skin as a little boy.
And as a young man, I was jailed and beaten bloody fighting for our Civil Rights.
But {NAME}, the racist violence I’ve witnessed in our nation over the last four years is some of the worst I have ever seen. This President’s agenda of hate is so strong.
If we don’t take action, everything my Civil Rights Movement brothers and sisters and I fought to achieve will be dismantled, and their legacy will be obliterated.
