To provide every Marylander — no matter their zip code or background — the opportunity to succeed. Hello {NAME} We have big news to share with you this week: We’re rolling out our economic agenda to provide every Marylander — no matter their zip code or background — the opportunity to succeed. I know we’ve faced some hard times these last few years, but it is unacceptable that in Maryland – one of the wealthiest states in the nation – too many folks are struggling to make ends meet. Marylanders deserve leadership with concrete, actionable plans to reinvigorate our state economy and support our students, families, and communities. That’s why Michelle and I have created an economic policy plan that will address all of these issues through an equity lens by… 1. Ensuring everyone has access to the building blocks of economic opportunity. In order for Marylanders to reach their full potential in the economy, we need a system of supports in place that ensures workers have childcare, transportation, and accessible housing. 2. Building strong pathways so that Marylanders have the skills and opportunities required for the jobs they want. The King-Siri administration will prioritize enabling a diverse, skilled, and empowered workforce and make Maryland the mid-Atlantic state where businesses and industry want to come, remain, and grow. 3. Supporting good jobs in healthy businesses. With access to capital, government services that are easy-to-navigate and customer-friendly, and strong infrastructure, employers and entrepreneurs in every community will be able to sustain and create good, stable jobs that pay a living wage and provide good benefits. 4. Building vibrant communities statewide. Economic activity is place-based and a King-Siri administration will ensure that all Maryland communities are positioned for success, from leveraging our federal assets like FDA and NIH to be the national leader in life sciences to ensuring thriving main streets in towns from the Eastern Shore to Mountain Maryland. 5. Advancing equity and making sure our economy works for every Marylander by directly tackling systemic disparities. A King-Siri administration will work to close the racial wealth gap and ensure that policies leave no Marylander out. [READ THE WHOLE PLAN]( As an educator, I understand Maryland’s ability to have a first-class workforce is held back when families can’t afford to feed and clothe their kids, when folks are threatened by eviction, or when someone falls into ill health because they can’t afford health care. As governor, I am committed to giving all Marylanders the opportunity to thrive by making sure they have the food they need to eat, health care when they need it, safe and affordable housing, child care, and transportation to jobs. I will lead Maryland on the path to becoming first in the nation in business and industry by providing every person the chance to succeed – no matter their starting point. But building that future will take all of us because the success of Maryland’s economy depends on its people. I am counting on supporters like you to stand with me and fight to give everyone, not just those at the top, the opportunity to achieve real economic dignity. The wealth gap in our state is bigger than we ever should have let it get, and we can’t afford to wait any longer to close it. So if you believe in our plans to build a more equitable, more prosperous, and, more just Maryland, please pitch in a donation today to fuel our movement. Text with a very high Flesch reading ease score (about 100) is straightforward and easy to read, with short sentences and no words of more than two syllables.
