I know you’re angry. You’re frustrated. I am too. But we can’t afford to miss this moment — it’s our duty to act. January 22, 1973: The date Roe v. Wade held that the Constitution protects the right to an abortion. May 2, 2022: The date a Republican majority Supreme Court revealed their intention to overturn this federal protection and strip millions of women from their right to bodily autonomy. I know you’re angry. You’re frustrated. I am too. But we can’t afford to miss this moment — it’s our duty to act. This morning at 10am ET, my running mate John King and I will be hosting a Facebook and Instagram Live discussion on actions the next Maryland Democratic administration must take to protect abortion access in light of the potential Supreme Court decision to overturn Roe and Casey. [WATCH ON FACEBOOK]( [WATCH ON INSTAGRAM]( If you care about access to safe, legal abortion, now is the time to fight back against this horrific news. We can’t allow right-wing ideologues on the Court to take Maryland back to an era of dangerous back-alley abortions. Since we can’t depend on the federal government to protect these rights, we need to push Maryland to lead by example for the rest of the country on how to support reproductive freedom. Abortion rights are codified here in Maryland, but many of our neighboring states are on the brink of slashing women's rights to govern their own bodies. Maryland is poised to become one of the most southern states where abortion will remain completely legal and protected by law, and a King-Siri administration will lead the charge to support our neighbors seeking reproductive health care when their own states won't provide it. No matter who you are or where you come from, each of us deserves the dignity to make choices for ourselves. This decision from the conservative justices is more than abhorrent, it is a clear attempt to restrict women's rights. I’ve dedicated my life to working towards achieving equal rights for everyone here in Maryland and across the country — through my law career, at Planned Parenthood, and at the Women’s Law Center. And I know that right now, we have no choice but to take action. If you have a moment, please give to the Baltimore Abortion Fund to support those who will have to travel here for an abortion: [( Now more than ever, we need leadership that understands what's at stake and what it really means to support reproductive freedom. Without the basic dignity of bodily autonomy, we can never achieve gender equality. So I hope you will join John and I at 10am as we discuss our plans to protect abortion access here in Maryland and fight for women's rights to govern their own bodies. Tune in here: [( Thank you, Michelle Siri [DONATE]( --------------------------------------------------------------- Paid for by John King for Governor, Eliza Leighton, Treasurer John King for Governor PO Box 8429 Silver Spring, MD 20907 United States [Facebook]( [Twitter]( [Instagram]( [CONTRIBUTE TODAY]( [CONTRIBUTE MONTHLY]( If you would like to learn more about John King's historic campaign for Maryland governor, text PROGRESS to 48178 or visit our [website](.
