I need to take a moment and ask… {NAME}, have you heard about this? This news out of Florida this past week is unconscionable. Republican governor Ron DeSantis just signed a law banning abortions after 15 weeks, making Florida the latest state to take an extreme stance to restrict women’s right to bodily autonomy – but it won’t be the last. This is what happens when Republicans are in charge — and they’re doing it in every state they can. In Texas, anyone who assists a woman in getting an abortion after six weeks can be sued. In Oklahoma, they passed a bill making it illegal to perform abortions. And these restrictions on women's rights are only getting worse with Republicans at the helm. That’s why I need to take a moment and ask… Do you support the right to choose? [YES]( [NO]( I look forward to hearing what you have to say, {NAME}. I hope you’ll stand with me by sharing your support for a women’s right to choose. Abortion ban laws like these disproportionately affect low-income women and women of color, who already face greater challenges accessing reproductive health services, and set an extremely dangerous precedent that Republican-led states across the country are already copying. It’s clear Republican leaders won’t stop here with these abortion bans, and the best defense against cruel bans like these is electing Democratic governors. I will always work to ensure that women’s reproductive rights are protected in Maryland. If you’re with me, I would love to hear from you.
