However, with your support, I know that we can change this and make a difference in the lives of so many women. While our state is starting to come back economically, we are not seeing the same gains for women. It’s time to ensure that everyone is able to benefit from a surging economy — and we have a plan for it. We created the King-Siri Agenda for Building Women’s Economic Equity to push for equal opportunity, access, and more. Since women are most likely to take on caregiving responsibilities, the lack of paid family leave and childcare disproportionately affects their careers. I know how difficult it can be to make ends meet while balancing work and family. When I had my first son, I was taken off the partnership track at my law firm and made to feel I couldn’t have both a career and a family. In my work at The Women’s Law Center of Maryland, I have spent the last few years trying to make sure disparities like this do not affect the women of our state — and in the King-Siri Administration, we will do that work on a larger scale.
