The fight for cannabis legalization is moving forward in Maryland! {NAME}, The fight for cannabis legalization is moving forward in Maryland! Democrats in the Maryland House of Delegates are working to put a question on the ballot in 2022 that would legalize cannabis statewide if passed. John proudly stands with the legislative leaders spearheading this effort. It's past time for legalization, expungement, and a thriving cannabis industry with robust participation of businesses owned by people of color and women. [But we want to know what you think — do you agree that we need to legalize cannabis here in Maryland?]( [SIGN THE PETITION]( Cannabis prohibition has a dark history, where Black and brown people have disproportionately been targeted by restrictive legislation. According to a report published by the Maryland General Assembly, while approximately 30% of Marylanders are Black, Black people were targeted in 54% of cannabis arrests in 2019. We must be cognizant of this history and the continuing racial disparities in our state and let these factors motivate us to legalize cannabis and expunge the records of non-violent offenders. Additionally, we must ensure that people of color who are trying to make a living in the cannabis industry are supported by guaranteed loans so their businesses have the opportunity to flourish. [It’s time to legalize cannabis while also taking these restorative steps to address racial injustice. Will you please voice your support for legalizing cannabis by signing our petition today?]( [SIGN THE PETITION]( Thank you for your engagement on this key issue, Team King --------------------------------------------------------------- Paid for by John King for Governor, Eliza Leighton, Treasurer John King for Governor PO Box 8429 Silver Spring, MD 20907 United States [Facebook]( [Twitter]( [Instagram]( [CONTRIBUTE TODAY]( [CONTRIBUTE MONTHLY]( If you would like to learn more about John King's historic campaign for Maryland governor, text PROGRESS to 48178 or visit our [website](.
