Joe and Kamala are hard at work on the campaign trail and in the White House making progress for the American people, and we’re excited to share some of the latest updates with you.]( [Before we dive in, will you make a $5 contribution to our Defend Democracy Fund to help keep up our momentum, reelect President Biden and Vice President Harris, and defeat Donald Trump? We’re so grateful for your support. Read on to learn more about what we’ve been up to this week.]( [ON THE GROUND: PRESIDENT BIDEN CHATS WITH LOCAL LEADERS: Recently, President Biden met with local leaders from around the country to talk about the lasting impact of the American Rescue Plan, the Bipartisan Infrastructure Law, and efforts to push for affordable housing in the communities that need it most -- specifically for first-time Black and Brown homeowners and their families. Joe and Kamala’s Investing in America agenda has transformed our country for the better. The administration has awarded more than $400 billion in funding from the Bipartisan Infrastructure Law, which is aimed at repairing roads and bridges, delivering clean water, deploying high-speed internet, and building out clean energy transportation infrastructure. President Biden knows that progress starts with local leaders who know their communities and how best to serve them, and he is committed to ensuring they have the resources to deliver on everything from housing to transportation to health centers.]( [REAFFIRMING OUR COMMITMENT TO PROTECTING REPRODUCTIVE RIGHTS: During his State of the Union address on Thursday night, President Biden shared the powerful stories of Kate Cox and Latorya Beasley. Kate Cox is a mother of two from Texas who was forced to travel out of state for abortion care that she needed to preserve her health. Cox is one of the first women in 50 years to have to turn to the courts to ask permission to receive the abortion that her doctor recommended. Latorya Beasley and her husband had their first child through IVF in 2022 and were in the process of expanding their family through another round of IVF when her embryo transfer was abruptly canceled as a result of the recent Alabama Supreme Court decision. Her experience is yet another example of how the overturning of Roe v. Wade has disrupted access to reproductive health care for women and families across the country. President Biden and Vice President Harris will continue to do everything in their power to ensure that women can get the health care they need and fight to restore the protections of Roe v. Wade in federal law so that people in every state have access to the care they need and deserve.]( [PRESIDENT BIDEN ANNOUNCED ANOTHER $1.2 BILLION IN STUDENT LOAN FORGIVENESS FOR MORE THAN 150,000 BORROWERS: In late February, President Biden announced the approval of $1.2 billion in student debt cancellation for more than 150,000 borrowers currently enrolled in the Saving on a Valuable Education (SAVE) repayment plan. The Biden-Harris Administration has now approved nearly $138 billion in student debt cancellation for almost 3.9 million borrowers through more than two dozen executive actions. The borrowers receiving relief are the first to benefit from a SAVE plan policy that provides debt forgiveness to borrowers who have been in repayment after as little as 10 years and took out $12,000 or less in student loans. This life-changing relief will particularly help borrowers who attended community college, low-income borrowers, and borrowers struggling to pay their loans. This announcement brings the total approved debt cancellation by the Biden-Harris administration to almost $138 billion for nearly 3.9 million Americans. Despite Republicans trying to stand in the way, President Biden will never stop fighting to give borrowers breathing room and to provide relief to as many borrowers as possible.]( [STAND BY PRESIDENT BIDEN AND HELP VANQUISH MALARKEY: It’s no secret that President Biden’s favorite holiday is St. Patrick’s Day, and one of the best ways to show your support for your favorite Irish American is to get Dark Merch to wear on St. Patrick’s Day and beyond! Grab your Dark merch today ahead of St. Patrick’s Day >>]( [JOIN TODAY’S NATIONAL ORGANIZING CALL!: Folks like you – who have stood by Joe and Kamala time and time again – know just how much is at stake in this election. At this very moment, MAGA Republicans are on a mission to strip away the fundamental freedoms we've fought so hard to secure.
