Read on to learn more about what President Biden and Vice President Harris have been up to this week.]( [ON THE GROUND: REBUILDING INFRASTRUCTURE IN WISCONSIN AND ACROSS THE COUNTRY: Recently, President Biden stopped by Earth Rider Brewery in Superior, Wisconsin to talk to local workers about the significance of the Bipartisan Infrastructure Law -- which has helped strengthen businesses in the Twin Ports area and improve the lives of workers and families across the country. The President shared how this administration is continuing to invest in America by bringing jobs, opportunity, and hope to all communities. One example is the renovation of the Blatnik Bridge, which connects Wisconsin and Minnesota and is a vital link in our nation’s economy. Every year, 950,000 trucks use this bridge to carry 3.4 billion tons of goods throughout America and into Canada. While Donald Trump turned “infrastructure week” into a punchline and failed to deliver over four years, President Biden actually delivered transformative infrastructure legislation that is helping create thousands of new, good-paying jobs and build the economy from the bottom up and the middle out. Under President Biden’s leadership, we’re investing billions in updating roads, bridges, public transit, and more across the country. To date, the Biden-Harris administration has helped kickstart over 40,000 projects related to bridges, highways, airports, and more -- alongside critical investments in high-speed internet, clean water, and U.S. factory jobs.]( [CELEBRATING BLACK HISTORY MONTH: This National Black History Month, we celebrate the vast contributions of Black Americans to our country and recognize that Black history is American history. Black culture, stories, and triumphs are at the core of who we are as a nation. In the words of President Biden, Black excellence, culture, resilience. Heroes known and unknown who inspired a nation. America was founded on the idea that we are all created equal -- but it is an idea that we haven’t always lived up to. Today, we still grapple with the moral stain and vestiges of slavery, our country’s original sin, and we continue the fight to fully realize the promise of America for all Americans. On their first day in office, President Biden and Vice President Harris signed a historic Executive Order on Advancing Racial Equity and Support for Underserved Communities. In February 2023, they signed an additional Executive Order to acknowledge the unbearable human costs of systemic racism and advance equity for the Black community. Last year, the Black unemployment rate was lower than in any other year on record. During a reception in recognition of Black History Month, President Biden said Civil rights leaders, business leaders, educators, artists, and so much more, I sincerely mean it: I am President and Kamala is Vice President because of you. You’ve had my back, and we’ve had your back, and we always will. Joe and Kamala are committed to advancing “a democracy with dignity rooted in freedom, fairness, opportunity, and justice and truth, based on promises made and promises kept, a recognition that we all have promises to keep.]( [EXPANDING THE AFFORDABLE CONNECTIVITY PROGRAM NATIONWIDE: As part of the President’s Investing in America agenda, a key component of Bidenomics, the Biden-Harris administration has made historic progress towards lowering costs -- including internet costs -- for folks across the country. The Affordable Connectivity Program, enacted under President Biden’s Bipartisan Infrastructure Law as the largest internet affordability program in our nation’s history, is now helping 23 million households (1 in 6 households across America) save $30-$75 each on their monthly internet bills. And, because the Biden-Harris Administration worked with internet providers to offer high-speed internet plans that are fully covered by the Affordable Connectivity Program, most eligible households can now get high-speed internet for free. In the 21st century, affordable, reliable high-speed internet is critical to accessing education, health care, and work.
