Now, take a moment to read on and learn more about what the Biden-Harris administration has been up to these past few weeks → --------------------------------------------------------------- INVESTING IN THE MIDDLE CLASS Since President Biden and Vice President Harris took office, the national deficit has fallen by $1.7 trillion, over 13 million jobs have been added to the economy, and unemployment has been below 4% for the longest stretch in decades. The president’s budget plan will cut the deficit even more by closing loopholes for Big Oil, crypto traders, and hedge fund managers -- and making billionaires pay their fair share. Bidenomics is about building the economy from the middle out and the bottom up -- not the top down -- by making three fundamental changes from where we’ve been. - Making smart investments in our nation: Rebuilding America’s crumbling infrastructure; promoting domestic production of semiconductors, batteries, electric cars, and clean energy; and powering a resurgence in American manufacturing. - Educating and empowering American workers: The share of prime working-age Americans in the workforce is higher than at any time in the last 16 years. We’re empowering workers by making sure they can get the education and training they need to get good-paying jobs, and working to make it easier to join a union -- reversing the 40-year decline in unionization. - Promoting competition to lower costs and help small businesses: The administration is proposing a rule to ban non-compete agreements, fighting to end junk fees that can add up to hundreds of dollars a month in costs for families, and providing support and capital to small businesses. --------------------------------------------------------------- ONE YEAR ANNIVERSARY OF DOBBS V. JACKSON WOMEN'S HEALTH ORGANIZATION June 24, 2023 marked the anniversary of the Supreme Court’s decision to overturn Roe v. Wade and end the constitutional right to an abortion. Over the last year, President Biden and Vice President Harris have demonstrated their commitment to protecting reproductive rights and access to health care: protecting access to emergency medical care, safeguarding access to medication abortion, supporting women’s ability to cross state lines to receive care, and more. And if Congress sends a bill codifying Roe v. Wade to President Biden’s desk, he has promised to sign it. Reelecting President Biden and Vice President Harris ensures the White House will have a continued commitment to an America where everyone has access to the health care they need. President Biden is still committed to student debt relief despite this ruling. The Biden-Harris administration will now approach student debt relief through the Higher Education Act, including a 12 month on-ramp to loan repayment program. The Department of Education has also finalized a new income driven repayment plan which will cut monthly payments for undergraduate loans in half and, for low-income borrowers, the payment will be $0.
