The latest Consumer Price Index report shows continued progress in our fight against inflation. Inflation has now fallen by 45% from its summer peak. Gas prices are down, and grocery prices fell last month for the first time since September 2020. This comes on top of the recent jobs report, which showed that the economy added 236,000 jobs in March -- bringing the total number of jobs created by the Biden-Harris team to 12.6 million. Simply put: Democrats are lowering costs and creating good jobs that you can raise a family on, all while bringing more Americans into the labor force. Read on to learn more about what else Democrats have been working on this week. --------------------------------------------------------------- PROTECTING REPRODUCTIVE FREEDOM A Trump-appointed federal judge issued a ruling that could severely compromise access to a key abortion medication for the entire country. Protecting access to reproductive health care has been a priority since the beginning of the Biden-Harris administration, made even more urgent by the Supreme Court’s decision last summer to overturn Roe v. Wade. In addition to fighting this ruling in the courts, the Biden-Harris team has taken the following steps to protect access to medication abortion: - Elevating medication abortion in the administration’s response to the Dobbs decision; - Issuing an executive order to protect access to abortion, including medication abortion; - Addressing barriers to accessing care; - Directing further efforts to ensure safe access to medication abortion.
