This election will be a choice between two fundamentally different visions for the economy and our country: President Biden, who sees the world from kitchen tables in Scranton, and Donald Trump, who sees it from his country club in Mar-a-Lago. While President Biden is fighting to make billionaires and large corporations pay their fair share in taxes, Donald Trump is promising to give them massive tax giveaways and special loopholes. President Biden’s plan is to cut taxes for millions of hardworking American families, while making the wealthiest among us finally pay their fair share and reducing the deficit.]( [PRESIDENT BIDEN ANNOUNCES $7.4 BILLION IN STUDENT DEBT CANCELLATION: Last week, President Biden announced that another 277,000 borrowers will have their student debt canceled, bringing the total debt relief approved by the Biden-Harris Administration to $153 billion for 4.3 million Americans. This latest round of debt cancellation comes on the heels of President Biden announcing new plans that, if implemented, would cancel student debt for over 30 million Americans. The Biden-Harris Administration has also taken action to cancel debt for nearly 900,000 public service workers, 1.3 million borrowers cheated by their schools or borrowers covered by related court settlements, and nearly 550,000 borrowers with a total and permanent disability, including many veterans. From day one, President Biden and Vice President Harris have fought to make sure higher education is a ticket to the middle class, not a barrier to opportunity. They will never stop fighting to give borrowers breathing room and to provide relief to as many borrowers as possible.]( [COMMEMORATING BLACK MATERNAL HEALTH WEEK: Last week was Black Maternal Health Week, a reminder of the stakes in this election: While Joe Biden and Kamala Harris are tackling the Black maternal health crisis head-on, Donald Trump took us backward by overturning Roe and would make things even worse if reelected. Black women are three times more likely to die from pregnancy-related complications than white women in America. But instead of solving the problem, Donald Trump made it worse as president, creating a reproductive health care crisis by unleashing dangerous abortion bans across the country. His plans for a second term would worsen Black maternal health care. After Trump unleashed historic attacks on women’s health care, the Biden-Harris Administration has taken a whole-of-government approach to addressing the crisis, releasing the Blueprint for Addressing the Maternal Health Crisis, which outlines actions the federal government will take to combat maternal mortality and improve maternal health. They have made investments in rural health care, are protecting patients from unexpected medical bills, are expanding access to doulas and midwives, launched the Maternal Mental Health Hotline, are growing and diversifying the maternal health workforce, and more. There is still so much to do to ensure safety and dignity in pregnancy and childbirth.
