[JJ's Power Pick]( [A Smart Solution To Keep Produce Fresh]( Nothing bums me out more than tossing old produce from my fridge, especially with rising food prices. That's why I appreciated this article by Alissa Wilkinson for Vox, which discusses how to preserve the massive amounts of produce she receives from community-supported agriculture. She has some helpful recommendations for maximizing the life of fruits and vegetables, including prioritizing perishable items, sorting produce based on longevity, and developing creative cooking skills to reduce waste.   [Study: The Association Between Daily Step Count and All-Cause and Cardiovascular Mortality]( A brisk mid-afternoon or after-dinner walk is the ticket for better mental and physical health as the days get cooler. But how much walking should you do to get those benefits? That was the question in a new study that evaluated the 10,000-steps-a-day prerequisite. Published in the European Journal of Preventive Cardiology, researchers found that walking slightly over a mile daily could reduce your risk of dying from cardiovascular disease. On the other hand, walking daily for about two miles could lower your risk of all-cause mortality or death from any cause. However, researchers found those health benefits could increase (up to 20,000 steps daily) the more you walk. As Dr. Cheng-Han Chen says in the article, “There does not seem to be such a thing as ‘too much’ walking.”   [A Mindful Walking Meditation]( In this beautiful Washington Post article, author Dora Kamau discusses the concept of mindful walking as a way to connect with nature and incorporate mindfulness into daily life. By mindful walking, she means taking a meditative approach, being fully present and attentive. Walking this way encourages paying attention to your surroundings and movement. Kamau shares her experience transitioning to remote work and using mindful walking breaks to reconnect with their environment.   Love, JJ   P.S.
