[JJ's Power Pick]( [Higher Intake of Flavonols Linked to Lower Risk of Frailty Onset In Adults]( A new study found that eating foods high in flavonols like quercetin may help prevent frailty in older people. Frailty is a condition that affects 10-15% of older adults and can make it harder to do everyday tasks (which is why I’m so passionate about maintaining muscle and bone strength as you age!). The researchers think flavonols could be used to help treat frailty in the future, too. Some easy ways to get quercetin in your diet? Add apples, berries, green tea, red onions, capers, kale, red grapes, and red peppers to your rotation.   [The Protein Episode | The mindbodygreen Podcast]( You hear me champion the benefits of protein all the time. I’m not the only one! This excellent episode features protein expert Don Layman, Ph.D. and serves as a 101 course on this powerful macronutrient. You’ll learn why not all protein is created equal, what to look for in a protein powder, how your gut changes your protein needs, and how to plan protein intake around workouts. He and host Jason Wachob dive deeper into nutrition science and why it can often be so confusing to understand. There’s a treasure trove of important info in this one.   [How to Keep Salad Greens Fresher Longer]( It’s not always cheap to visit the farmer’s market, so you want to make sure you’re keeping your veggies as fresh as possible for as long as possible! Cook’s Illustrated has a really creative hack for avoiding wilted greens—using the carbon dioxide from your SodaStream! In their experiments, the greens lasted twice as long, so you can give yourself a little more time to get to them before they go bad. Don’t have a SodaStream? You can breathe into the bag, too—but you might want to keep that one for yourself!   Love, JJ   P.S. This week’s Power Spotlight is our Memorial Day Sale!
