Mindset, strength training, and a toast to turning 60 Mindset, strength training, and a toast to turning 60 ͏‌ Íâ€Œ Íâ€Œ Íâ€Œ  ͏‌ Íâ€Œ Íâ€Œ Íâ€Œ  ͏‌ Íâ€Œ Íâ€Œ Íâ€Œ  [JJ Virgin]( Hi ,    Here are my Power Picks of the week! [JJ's Power Pick](     [Study: A Positive Attitude Can Add 7.5 Years to Your Life]( My 60th birthday is in just a few days! One of the biggest lessons I've learned over the years is that mindset is everything—and the research supports it. This 23-year study showed that those who have a better outlook on aging actually live longer than those who dread getting older. Even when adjusted for differences in age, gender, socioeconomic status and other factors, the results remained the same. Folks with a positive mental attitude also recover from illness and injury faster, have better cognitive function, and feel that they have a greater sense of control in their lives.   [Training Principles for Mass and Strength]( Another one of my favorite podcasts, Peter Attia’s Drive, recently did a great episode with Layne Norton, who holds a Ph.D. in nutritional sciences and is a physique coach, natural bodybuilder, and powerlifter. This wide-ranging conversation covers strength training for beginners and how it supports longevity and quality of life, nutrition to support physical activity, the psychosocial effects of aging, and importantly, how to judge whether the fitness advice on social media is sound.   [Celebrating 60 With a Glass of Natural Wine]( Most wine is made with more sugar and alcohol than is necessary—and that’s what causes unwanted side effects like headaches, nausea, or a full-blown hangover. Not how I want to feel on my milestone day! Dry Farm Wines is my go-to source for reliable, organic, low sugar-impact wine.* They travel the world looking for wines that are both incredibly tasty and good for you. I’ll toast to that!   Love, JJ   P.S. In an effort to green your cleaning products, detergent might be on your list of healthier swaps to make. I use and love Truly Free, a non-toxic, plant-based cleaning product that is not only tough on stains, but gentle on skin, too. To celebrate National Laundry Day (today, even though it may feel like every day), they’re giving away 50 Free Loads Of Non-Toxic Laundry Soap! It’s eco-friendly, arriving in a reusable jug that you can refill to help keep plastic bottles out of landfills. [Grab your free laundry soap here](.*    * I couldn’t make it without supportive relationships, and I bet you feel the same! That’s why my team and I offer you products and services we believe in. If you happen to purchase something I recommend here, I may receive some kind of compensation. However, I only bring you partners whose content and core values will serve you with the same commitment to excellence my team and I strive for every day. Please be in touch with any concerns. The Flesch readability score uses the average length of your sentences (measured by the number of words) and the average number of syllables per word in an equation to calculate the reading ease. Text with a very high Flesch reading ease score (about 100) is straightforward and easy to read, with short sentences and no words of more than two syllables.
