“Order Flow is just another buzzword” This statement might hold some truth, but it really depends on how you plan to use it. Since I started Jigsaw, I only hear three things about order flow: 1.It's the best thing I ever learned as a trader; every trader should learn it 2.It's NOT necessary 3.It's overrated And you know what? They're all correct. I already talked before about this but just to confirm my stance, let me say this… Order Flow itself is simply information. It's how you use this information that matters. And how you use that information and the fact that will you benefit from it… How you utilize Order Flow and whether you benefit from it will determine which camp you fall into – the fans, the skeptics, or the critics. Order Flow consists of several components: - Order Executions/Tape Reading - This is the real flow of orders, the information we see in Time & Sales, Footprint Charts, and Cumulative Delta. It's about looking at market orders, which are considered more aggressive and significant. - Volume Profile/Positions - This helps us understand where people are positioned and likely to get stopped out. It's important to know when trades will be "washed out". - Market Depth - The bids and offers, the lazy passive orders waiting to be hit. This is part of the story, but not the whole picture. The key is to use these components together, not in isolation. But here's the thing - Order Flow can't magically fix a broken strategy. It's a tool to enhance a solid approach OR start a new solid one. AND it is not a standalone solution. So, is Order Flow necessary? No. But it can be incredibly valuable when used correctly. Is it overrated? Sometimes (gurus need to make money). Is it the best thing you can leverage as a trader at any level?
