The answer is simple : It's because I got a bunch of traders in Singapore drunk at a networking event. (That's a story for another time...) All jokes aside... We trade order flow because that's what prop firms do. (traditional "old school" prop firms) In fact, I don't know any other group of traders who get profitable faster than prop traders. So, what exactly is order flow, and why is it so powerful? In a nutshell, order flow is all about watching the actual orders flowing in and out of the market in real-time. It's like having a front-row seat to the market's inner workings, watching the buyers and sellers duke it out right before your eyes. Compare that to traditional chart reading, where you're essentially looking at a history book of past trades. Sure, it can be helpful, but it's like trying to drive a car by only looking in the rearview mirror. With order flow, you're looking out the windshield, seeing the road ahead. Now, I'm not saying order flow is some kind of magic bullet. It's not going to turn a losing strategy into a winning one overnight. If you're trading based on the phases of the moon, order flow probably isn't going to be much help (but hey, if that's working for you, more power to you!). You have to be realistic about what you can achieve with order flow. If you are nominally profitable, it can help. If you are losing most of your trades, then you should consider dropping what you do now and using order flow on its own. So, how do you learn Order Flow? Like any skill, order flow takes time and practice to master. It's not something you can just learn from a book or a video. It's a mental skill that you have to develop on your own, through hours of watching the market and identifying patterns. (That's why we do drills for our new daytradr users.) But it is worth the effort. Because once you start seeing the market through the lens of order flow, it's like trading in a whole new dimension. Keep trading smart, Peter Jigsaw Trading & Journalytix P.S. Prop traders don’t use order flow because it’s difficult but because they feel it’s the fastest and easiest path to profits for their trainees. P.P.S.
