Psalm 126:5 Songs of Joy When you plant a rose bush, you expect to see roses. When you scatter grass seeds, you watch for that bare spot in your lawn to become lush and green. When you plant watermelon seeds, you anticipate having a simple, delicious dessert for your summer picnics. When we cry tears of grief, however, we rarely expect them to be transformed into “songs of joy.” In fact, it’s often hard to see the way our heartaches get transformed into blessings until long after they occur. But perhaps if we think of our tears as seeds of future joy, a radical transformation that only God can bring about, maybe we will experience some comfort. While we’re sad in the present, we know we don’t have to remain stuck in the midst of our grief. God delivers us and delights in healing us and restoring us to new life. What appears to devastate us today might be what turns out to deliver us in the future. As the Master Gardener, God is able to produce spiritual fruit in our lives from even the smallest, hardest seeds. Pray: “God, I can’t see it right now, but I know my present struggles will make me stronger. I know you will continue to bless me, even though others may intend me harm.” You can grow closer to God with my full Jesus Daily® Devotional Book at [Amazon.com]( or fine bookstores everywhere.
