Whether it’s a thrilling battle in space, hand-to-hand combat from centuries ago, or an imminent natural disaster, such calamities would surely claim numerous lives if not for the valiant efforts—often down to the nail-biting last second—of a superhero, space warrior, soldier, or resourceful everyman. We admire and appreciate stories of heroes who can rescue us from danger. They give us hope that impossible odds can be overcome, unlikely solutions can work, and that last-minute rescues can happen. While this may not be realistic, we know there’s one Savior who has already come through for us. While we were yet sinners, Jesus left his Father in heaven and came to earth to live and die as a man—the ultimate “undercover” assignment.
