We expend more energy doing basic, everyday functions such as walking, running, and working. We need water to stay alive, and sometimes we need more water just to maintain a healthy body. We need a regular dose of God’s grace just as our bodies need water to survive. When we confess our sins, the Lord tells us that he’s merciful and quick to forgive, removing our transgressions from us as far as east is from west. We experience the refreshment of spirit that comes from knowing we’ve been made clean and pure, not by any of our own efforts but totally by the grace of our Father.
