Proverbs 3:7 The Truly Wise As much as we want to grow wiser and more mature, we’re often not the best judges of our own progress. In fact, the more we remain focused on our own growth, the more likely we are to become proud, arrogant, and self-righteous. Our humility fades as we begin to feel pretty good about ourselves and our spiritual development. However, this is not the way that truly wise people behave and grow. Maybe you’ve heard the saying, “The more I know, the more I know that I don’t know!” In many ways, this is the attitude of the spiritually mature. Their humility grounds them and keeps them from being a know-it-all prone to tell others how to grow closer to God. Instead, they learn from their experiences and are always willing to share it with others, but never in a way that’s smug, superior, or condescending. They know that we all learn from one another, both the new believer and the mature lifetime Christian. Those who are truly wise realize that God alone is the source of all wisdom. Pray: “Father, thank you for all that you’ve revealed to me and the wisdom that you’ve imparted.
