Your body has perspired so much that you feel as though there’s no moisture left in you. Your throat’s so dry that it’s hard to swallow, and there’s a gritty taste in your mouth from all the dust you swallowed on your journey. Now imagine that you reach for a tall glass of ice-cold water. The sensation of the chilled water going down your throat instantly refreshes you. As you continue drinking, you can almost feel the water coursing down into your body all the way to your toes. You keep drinking and feel as though you can’t get enough of this precious liquid. Our souls were made to find life-giving refreshment in God. He alone satisfies the deep, seemingly unquenchable thirst that often aches within us. In him we drink from the Living Water that brings new life and new joy to the desert within. Pray: “Jesus, I thirst for you.
