All the various parts, pieces, roles, and responsibilities of who we are become grounded by the consistency of our character. As we follow Christ, all the different facets of our personality become transformed by God’s Spirit working within us. Much of the time, we concentrate on strengthening certain parts of our self and eliminating others. We want to emphasize our virtuous habits and disciplines and remove the weaknesses, mistakes, and vices. While there’s certainly merit in cultivating spiritual disciplines and resisting temptations, we must also remember that God loves all of us. He knows every facet of our being—after all, he created us—and nothing surprises him. If we want to be integrated and whole, we need to be honest about all the parts of ourselves, not just the ones we like. Pray: “Dear God, I’m so grateful that you love me just as I am. Please continue to heal the parts of me that I struggle to accept.” You can grow closer to God with my full Jesus Daily® Devotional Book at [Amazon.com]( or fine bookstores everywhere. NEW!
