If there’s one phrase I repeat non-stop in futility ever since the day I became a mother, it is this: slow down, slow down, slow down. I catch these little glimpses of pure joy, things I used to pray for and dream about, and I’m living them. I’m living way better versions of them, in fact! And it’s wild and unexpected. Time is more precious than ever to me, and only becomes more so as the days go on and more memories are made with these two girls I get to call my daughters. *cue ‘Slipping Through My Fingers’ by Abba* And right now, I’m lookin’ over at my girl Quinn, because she’s 1 today. ONE. You only get to be a 1 year old once in life. I did it, you did it, and these are the kind of days I need to catalog and pin into my memory. I’m going to tickle her and let her hands absolutely obliterate a tiny cake and carry her around and tell her how much I love her at least 400 times. [image] She is a gift to us! Her peaceful presence, her innate contentment… she brings us all warmth and grounding every single day. Like a bear hug became a human. And my oh my, I love how she looks like my dad! (Not everyone sees it, but I sure do!) And in the midst of the celebration and giggles and kissing all over her sweet face this morning, I felt this thought enter my mind: right now is truly all we have. I dream about the future all the time, and I can’t help it, I’m one of those dreamer types. But choosing to be present in this very moment, and learning how to make that a habit for myself, was one of the best gifts I’ve ever received in my life. That lesson, once it really sinks in, is priceless. Today, I’m also one year older from that day I met Quinn. I’ve grown, changed, and created things I didn’t know I could! And I believe it was only possible because I gave myself the gift of being in the present and savoring the juicy little moments as often as I could. And I bet Quinn would want you to do the same, so while she can’t string sentences together, I’m going to say that’s her birthday wish. Find a moment, perhaps a little sunny corner, and let yourself be you for a minute or two. Be in your body and enjoy it for a moment. Feel gratitude for the years of life you’ve had. The growth you’ve had in the last year! The unique way you move through life. I’m proud of you! Of us! So, I’ll eat a GF cupcake in celebration of us today, too! And I know how much the little moments matter, so thanks for reading this and givin’ a few to me. :) Jenna P.S. Is it your birthday month, too? If so, biiiig happy birthday from us over here! Hit reply to let me know what you’re doing to celebrate so I can join you! [Unsubscribe]( Jenna Kutcher 340 S Lemon Ave #4227 Walnut, California 91789 United States
