I was recently reading some guided language that helps think through making a decision. One of the phrases stood out to me, as it asked, “What would your truest self do?” I love what that question helps us filter. It doesn’t ask, “What is going to be the most impressive?” Or even, “What is going to be the most successful?” No, instead this question cuts right to the center of it all, asking the decision-maker what their truest self wants to do about it. Ahhhh! That’s so refreshing. Now I know that doesn’t always mean the answer is instant, or the decision is a perfectly easy one, but that’s the kind of question that will only ever help the decision be more aligned with you. More of the right decision. Here’s why I think this kind of question is vital: you make decisions every single day. Tons of them! Whether it's the voices in your head, the meetings at work, the way you’re interacting with humans you love—decisions abound. And what if, for the ones where you’re able to give yourself a moment to prepare, you could make sure it’s the most true version of you making the choice? And I believe you’ll see that decision come to life. Because when you make a choice and it lights up the most TRUE parts of you, you’re way more excited to take action on it! Better questions ➡️ better decisions ➡️ authentic action ➡️ IMPACT. Now that’s a timeline I can get stoked about! So, I hope this question can help cut out the noise of the world and the voices of pressure that try to push you into their decisions. I mean, your truest self deserves to have the mic, ya know?
