This year, I’m especially thinking of U.S. Senator Max Cleland, who passed away this week after a lifetime of service to Georgia and our nation. Senator Cleland epitomized the values of service and patriotism. As the daughter and granddaughter of war veterans, I know that our nation is better for his leadership. I am praying for his family and loved ones. The commitment of those who serve is one we can never take for granted. And we must honor their service by working faithfully to ensure that freedom, equality, and liberty remain at the heart of our country. I offer my most sincere gratitude to everyone who has answered the call to serve. Your hard work in service to our country has been paramount to maintaining our democracy, and we are eternally grateful for your sacrifice.
