She believed that we should be equal under the law. Now more than ever, we must work to uphold and advance equality because so many of our rights are hanging by a thread. ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ [Jen Jordan - Democrat for Georgia Attorney General]( {NAME}, today marks one year since the passing of Justice Ruth Bader Ginsburg. Justice Ginsburg lived by her principles. Every day, she pursued justice for those without power and without a voice, and her legacy of fighting for equality under the law is one that generations of women will be forever grateful for. She was a constant source of inspiration for me and so many women who chose to pursue law as a career. [Picture of Jen with an RBG figure at her desk]( The loss of Justice Ginsburg was a tragic moment for our country at a time when our democratic institutions are being ravaged and our rights are at risk of being rolled back. Her absence has truly been felt in the year since. Republicans ignored the voices of millions of Americans and rushed a replacement onto the Supreme Court mere weeks after her death. The new 6-3 conservative majority on the Court has proceeded to make it easier for states to pass voting restrictions, and earlier this month allowed Texas to effectively disregard Roe v. Wade. It's never been more important to keep up the fight for equality. Ruth Bader Ginsburg helped advance justice for decades, and so many in my generation have felt the impact of her accomplishments. The best way to honor her memory is for us to uphold and advance equality wherever we can, and carry on Justice Ginsburg's principles and wisdom to the next generation. As I seek to become the first woman Attorney General of my state, I think often of Justice Ginsburg's words: "I ask no favors for my sex. All I ask of our brethren is that they take their feet off our necks." I'm running because opportunity, equality, and justice — the principles Justice Ginsburg tirelessly worked toward — are on the ballot. One year later, Ruth Bader Ginsburg's memory remains a blessing, inspiring us to keep fighting for our values no matter the challenges we face. Sincerely, Jen Jordan Democratic State Senator Jen Jordan (pronounced Jer-Dun) has spent her legal career fighting for Georgians. Because of her real-life experience in the courtroom and out of it, Jen knows that now, more than ever, we need an Attorney General who will take a stand and fight for the rights of each and every Georgian.
