[Image] Tuesday Market Outlook: November 7, 2023 Happy Tuesday, traders! The market is on fire right now, but I donât want anyone getting ahead of themselves⦠Weâre at a critical fork in the road, so to speak. Newbies will likely keep leveraging themselves long into this rally, while Wall Street is probably starting to think about hitting the sell button. Iâve spent the weekend gathering my thoughts on how to approach the market this week. With that in mind, keep reading to hear my Tuesday Market Outlook⦠Stocks Have Gone Too Far, Too Fast⦠We're stepping into a week where the stock market feels like it's been running a marathon at a sprinter's speed. Itâs gone too far ⦠too fast. But since most companies have already reported earnings, any big price swings we see this week will likely be caused by bigger, broader issues in the economy. Looking ahead, I'm not waiting for news from any one company to shake things up. Rather, Iâm keeping my attention on the 10-year Treasury yield. It's kind of like a mood ring for the economy, and right now, it's hovering between 4.5% and 4.9%. This might not sound like a big gap, but it can make a big difference in how stocks perform. Hereâs something else in the news thatâs caught my attention: South Korea has [banned short selling](. This ban seems to have given their stocks a boost, with their Kospi index [climbing over 5%]( in response. If China decides to do the same thing, it might be time to start looking at calls on any of the following Chinese tech stocks: - Alibaba Group Holding Limited (NYSE: BABA)
- Tencent Holdings Ltd. (OTCMKTS: TCEHY)
- JD.com, Inc. (NASDAQ: JD)
- Baidu, Inc. (NASDAQ: BIDU) As youâre following what happens in markets around the world, keep an eye on how government rules can change things fast. Watching how policies in one country affect the markets can teach us a lot about how everything is connected. This macro-driven focus is a major pillar of my trading strategy. What To Do During Quiet News Weeks Let me tell you a hard truth about being a trader⦠Some weeks, the market is just kind of quiet and doesn't give us much to work with. And this looks like one of those weeks. It's important not to rush into making trades just because you feel like you have to do something. Experienced traders know that sometimes the best move is to sit on the sidelines and wait for a clearer chance to make money. When it's a slow news week, it's a good time to backtest your previous plays, think about your trading plan, or even just stay where you are without making any new moves. Being careful and thinking things through can sometimes pay off better than jumping into a trade without a solid game plan or strong conviction. In the stock market, knowing when to make your move is just as important as knowing what to do. Sometimes the market gives us a chance to stop and think about our next steps. This is one of those times. If you like technical analysis, this could be a good time to get better at it since the market is less noisy without big news from companies. You can see how prices move up and down and get a feel for the market's rhythm. Closing Thoughts Letâs use our time wisely this week. This is a great chance to sharpen your skills, balance out your portfolio, or learn something new. Whether you're just starting or you've been trading for a while, make sure you're not just following the crowd but making thoughtful choices. As we go through this week, let's stay alert, keep learning, and be ready for anything. Happy trading! Stay Street Smart, Jeff Zananiri P.S.
