[More on that in a second, but first, our end-of-month deadline ends tomorrow at midnight. Will you chip in $25 or more towards my campaign to bring real leadership to Western NC?]( [Donate $25]( [Other Amount]( In the past few weeks, we’ve seen both our twins’ daycare and our older son’s elementary school have to close or go virtual because of COVID-19. These were tough decisions for school leaders and you can see the strain on teachers’ faces. For working families, this sets into motion a ripple effect of hard choices and pressure points. Most parents I know are exhausted right now and for many that is compounded by other issues – the expiration of the Child Tax Credit, which was providing critical support for groceries and diapers; staffing shortages at their jobs which means everyone is working more and harder; scrambling to find COVID-19 tests and then holding your crying child as they get tested; the tough realities of inflation and how that impacts your grocery bill and filling up the gas tank. This all hits home for me as a mom. And it motivates me as a candidate – we need someone representing WNC who gets these issues, prioritizes them, and will fight for the policies that help working families. As a mom, my number one priority for my children is to protect their health and safety. And as a county commissioner and candidate for Congress, my number one priority is to help my constituents and meet voters where they are. As COVID-19 cases continue to rise in Western North Carolina, we decided to postpone all of our in-person events. I’m proud of our team’s decision, but this means we’ll really have to dig deep right now to build the right foundation for the rest of the year. It’s even more urgent now that the North Carolina Supreme Court has agreed to hear an appeal to overrule Republicans’ gerrymandered maps and decide when filing opens as well as when the primary will take place. We have to be nimble and prepared for a range of scenarios. In order to reach our end-of-month goal, we’ll need folks like you to step up and chip in to this email. So, I have to humbly ask: [Before our end-of-month deadline ends tomorrow night, will you chip in $25? Your grassroots donation goes a long way towards helping me deliver real leadership.]( As a valued member of this team, we will always be transparent with you about our fundraising and where we stand.
