Itâs Paul Bogle Day Culture Minister Olivia Grange has announced that Wednesday, October 11 will be [observed as Paul Bogle Day](. The day will be observed annually. Grange made the announcement Tuesday in the House of Representatives as she outlined plans for National Heritage Week, being observed this week. Bogle, who was a Baptist deacon and activist, is a National Hero of Jamaica. 120 schools to participate in Seville Heritage Expo The annual Seville Heritage Expo is set to, once again, captivate the minds of Jamaicaâs youth. The event will be held today at the historic Seville Heritage Park in St Annâs Bay, St Ann, with 120 schools islandwide set to take part.
The event, which is in its 25th year, will feature a wide range of activities, with cultural exhibitions being among the highlights.
Students will have the opportunity to explore African culture, tour the Seville Great House, and gain insights into the history of African and European influences through museum displays.

Twenty-year-old Alex Belight is charged with grievous sexual assault, rape, possession of child pornography and production of child pornography with intent to distribute. He reportedly met the girl while playing an online game and eventually lured the child to his home in Old Harbour where he raped her on several occasions. Belight is also alleged to have video recorded one of the sexual assault incidents and threatened to release the footage if she did not comply with his demands. Mental health survey for Caribbean young people The Guyana-based Caribbean Community (Caricom) Secretariat on Tuesday said it is [launching a survey on the mental health and well-being issues experienced by young people across the region](. On this day in 1865, Paul Bogle leads hundreds in a march from Stony Gut to Morant Bay (which would be known as the Morant Bay Rebellion). They were protesting injustice and widespread poverty under the British Crown. In a violent confrontation with full official forces that followed the march, nearly 500 people were killed.
