The Met Service made the prediction in its Extreme heat, drought and rainfall report. Marked by heatwaves and fires, global temperatures hit new records this summer, with July 2023 being the hottest month ever recorded on Earth – July’s global average temperature of 16.95 degrees Celsius was 0.33 degrees Celsius higher than the previous record set in 2019. Committee to begin examination of MP job descriptions A Joint Select Committee of the Parliament will today begin the examination of Green Paper No. 3 of 2023 regarding [job description for Members of Parliament (MPs)](. The committee will meet at the Jamaica Conference Centre in downtown Kingston. In June, Prime Minister Andrew Holness tabled the Green Paper in the House of Representatives outlining the job description for MPs. He also tabled a White Paper detailing the job description for Cabinet members. Gov’t reaffirms commitment to providing affordable housing Deputy Prime Minister Dr Horace Chang, has [reaffirmed the Government’s commitment to providing affordable housing]( for working-class Jamaicans and eradicating the issue of squatting across the country.
