know for Monday, July 10, 2023 Water watch The country is on edge this morning as workers at the state-owned National Water Commission (NWC) have [issued a notice to strike in 72 hours]( if the Government does not address their concerns about new salary bands. The strike notice was issued Saturday evening. In May of last year, NWC workers took [strike action for two days]( effectively shutting down the country. NCB warns of scam National Commercial Bank (NCB) is warning its customers about a scam being utilised by fraudsters, which they should not fall prey to. In its latest Fighting Fraud Fridays notice, NCB said fraudsters have resorted to a method called âpretextingâ. According to the bank, fraudsters pretend to be someone you trust, create fake situations, and trick unsuspecting individuals into providing sensitive information or money. âYou see a post from a friend about their fantastic summer holiday. The next day, you get a message from them asking for help because they lost their wallet. They even give specific details about their trip. But it's not your friend who messaged you; it's a scammer who fooled you into sending money,â NCB said. Trial of Javan Garwood for the murder of his stepmom to resume The trial of Javan Garwood, who is facing charges for the 2021 shooting death of his stepmother, 51- year-old banker Andrea Lowe-Garwood, is [expected to resume today in the Trelawny Circuit Court](. The trial failed to get underway last Tuesday after a request by defence lawyer, Khadine Coleman, for time to peruse new information she received from the prosecution the previous day. The triggerman in the slaying, Dwight Bingham, who pleaded guilty to murder and illegal possession of firearm, is to return to court on July 25, when sentencing is slated to be handed down. Lowe-Garwood was gunned down in church during a praise and worship service in January 2021.
