Morning Bites: 5 things to know for Tuesday, June 13, 2023 CCTVs to be installed at primary schools Closed-Circuit Television (CCTV) cameras are to be installed at the entrances of primary schools in the wake of last week’s [abduction and murder of eight-year-old Danielle Rowe](. Danielle was kidnapped from the Braeton Primary and Infant School in St Catherine last Thursday. She was later found on Roosevelt Avenue in St Andrew with her throat slashed and taken to the nearby Bustamante Hospital for Children where she died early Saturday morning. Minister of Education Fayval Williams says the move to install cameras at primary schools is to strengthen safety and security measures at these institutions. FSC hosts regional conference for pensions supervisors The opening ceremony of the Caribbean Association of Pensions Supervisors will take place today at the Jamaica Pegasus Hotel from 8:30 am to 11:30 am. Executive Director of the Financial Services Commission, Major Keron Burrell will give the keynote address. The conference is being held under the theme: "Enhancing Protection, Building Resilience mid Macro Uncertainty and Systemic Risk.” A panel of experts from Jamaica, Canada, the United Kingdom and the Unites States will address the following topics: the impact of macro uncertainty on pension plan performance; exploring the role of various pension stakeholders; variable annuity payouts and consumer protection; and market conduct in the pensions industry. Planned closure of westbound overpass bridge at Hagley Park Road postponed The planned closure of the westbound overpass bridge linking Hagley Park Road to Marcus Garvey Drive has been postponed until further notice, the National Works Agency (NWA) has advised. The bridge had been scheduled to be closed to vehicular traffic as of 2:00 pm today. But the NWA, in a release late yesterday afternoon, said the plan had been postponed. No reason was given. Manager, Communication and Customer Service at the NWA, Stephen Shaw, had said the section of roadway was being closed to facilitate remedial work to correct a drainage issue on the eastern side of the bridge.
