Morning Bites: 5 things to know for Tuesday, May 30, 2023 NHT, UAWU meet to address worker sickout Following Monday’s sickout by workers, the management of the National Housing Trust (NHT) and the University and Allied Workers Union are to meet today in a bid to resolve the dispute. The disgruntled workers called in sick to register their discontent about an outstanding job evaluation exercise. They have accused the Ministry of Finance of dragging its feet on the mater. On Monday, the NHT confirmed that “a significant number of our employees, called in sick today,” severely curtailing services at the state-run entity. Munga Honorable murder trial postponed until Feb 2025 The long-awaited murder trial of dancehall artiste Munga Honorable [has been rescheduled to February 17, 2025](. The trial, which was set to start on Monday (May 29) in the Home Circuit Court, was postponed because of personal challenges being experienced by Munga’s attorney, Christopher Townsend. As a result, a new trial date was scheduled along with a trial readiness hearing for November 4, 2024. Munga, whose real name is Damian Rhoden, and his co-defendant, Sherdian Gordon both had their bails extended until their next court appearance. They are jointly charged with the 2017 murder of Cleveland Smith. McKenzie, Guy speak in Sectoral Debate The [2023/24 Sectoral Debate]( is set to continue today in the House of Representatives.
