Ambassador Alison Stone Roofe appointed PS in security ministry A senior member of Jamaica’s foreign service, Ambassador Alison Stone Roofe, will today begin duties as permanent secretary in the Ministry of National Security. Her appointment has been confirmed by the Minister of National Security, Dr Horace Chang. Stone Roofe [replaces veteran civil servant Courtney Williams]( who was appointed in March as Jamaica’s first fiscal commissioner. Mystic Mountain’s bankruptcy case to be heard in Supreme Court The bankruptcy case of Mystic Mountain Limited (MML) is to be heard in the Supreme Court beginning today. The popular attraction which is located in Ocho Rios, St Ann was [placed in receivership]( last year after a proposed $1.3 billion payout was rejected. It was certified bankrupt by the government’s Office of the Supervisor of Insolvency, after the majority of its creditors voted down a proposal on denying the company time to make payments. Creditors were told in March that MML’s sole shareholder has indicated a willingness to “rehabilitate the company”. Advertisement Several activities to mark Child Month A number of activities are scheduled for Child Month which will be observed in Jamaica this year under the theme: ‘Children Need our Love and Protection…Get Involved.’ Activities to mark the month will get underway with the National Church Service on Sunday, May 7 at the Wesley Mount Methodist Church in Williamsfield, Manchester at 10:30 am. National Children’s Day will be observed on Friday, May 19 and the public is asked to wear sunshine yellow in observance of the day. A National Day of Prayer for Children will be observed on May 24 and will be led by the Apostolic Faith Church in Waterloo, Santa Cruz, St Elizabeth.
