[Join Now]( International Women’s Day was first celebrated in 1911 – in Austria, Denmark, Germany, and Switzerland – though it took until 1975, which had been proclaimed “International Women’s Year”, for it to be recognised by the United Nations. Since then it has been celebrated annually, focusing on a different theme each year. This year’s theme is “Gender equality today for a sustainable tomorrow”, so the bouquet in our new card is wrapped in recycled paper! (Although being an e-card, it’s very environmentally friendly anyway.) Combining the official colours of purple, green, and white with the traditional mimosa, and a musical accompaniment by Clara Schumann, we think it’s the perfect card to honour the wonderful women in your life! [Mimosa Posy]( Although this is our first card dedicated to International Women’s Day, we have several other cards fit to mark the occasion – including "Avian Arabesque", where you'll hear an impromptu duet for piano and birdsong, and our "Woodland Waterfall" notecard, where you can celebrate with Mother Nature herself! [Peacock Painting]( [Butterfly Bouquet]( [Avian Arabesque]( [Woodland Waterfall]( Handy Tip! One of the many benefits of our new website is that we now have a [Cards Received]( page, which allows you to see all the JL cards you’ve received – right back to when we launched in 2002! – whether you were a paid ecards member at the time or not! You can find some more information on [this FAQ page](. With best wishes, The Jacquie Lawson team [BIRTHDAY CARDS]( [OUR LATEST CARDS]( [THANK YOU CARDS]( Experience the classiest ecards on the web!
