I became an educator in New York public schools to fulfill my lifelong dream. Working with students to take advantage of every opportunity available to them was the honor of my life. And as an educator, I have seen first-hand the importance of investing in high quality schooling to prepare our youth for the futures of their choosing. While serving our community as an educator, I also spent 29 years in the US Army Reserves. During this time I deployed to Iraq, Afghanistan, Guantanamo Bay, and Germany for Operation Desert Storm. I witnessed the immense sacrifices our service members made, and I keep their commitment to service in my heart every day as I fight for better treatment of our veterans. My journey to running for Congress is deeply rooted in my commitment to our country and our community. This fight is personal to me. But I can’t get there without you.
