I love helping people go through their Conscious Spending Plan. When they try To view this email as a web page, [click here]() {NAME}, I love helping people go through their [Conscious Spending Plan](). When they try this approach, readers finally delete that budgeting spreadsheet that makes them feel horrible — and that they ignore — and start looking at their money in an intentionally positive way. It can be incredibly uplifting. But sometimes, it’s a huge eye opener that they’re not making enough to live their Rich Life. [How to Get Rich Ep. 7] In episode 7 of my Netflix show “[How to Get Rich](),” Millie has the same amazing breakthrough If you’re building out your Rich Life and realize you’re not covering your fixed costs, investments, and savings goals, the solution is simple: Make more money. And one of the fastest ways to make more money is to find a better job! Look, I get it. Hunting for a new job can be exhausting, frustrating and nerve wracking. But here’s the thing, once you’ve found a great job that: - Pays well and what you’re worth - Provides excellent benefits and flexibility - Gives you time and resources to live the life you want …the results are life changing. [IWT team at How to Get Rich launch party] The IWT team together for the launch party of “How to Get Rich” And here’s the truth: Being stuck in a job that leaves you scrambling every month trying to cover your bills or with more stress than the last is also exhausting, frustrating, and nerve wracking. So you have to extend your vision! In one year, where do you want to be? Stuck in the same job, with the same worries? Or loving life in a truly great job? What does a great job even look like? Most of us know when we’re stuck in a bad job. Maybe you’re feeling babysat, underappreciated, or stuck. Or maybe your team chat is full of rumors and gossip, unclear expectations from management, and cliques that make you feel like you’re back in high school… Keep an eye out for these warning signs: - Management has no interest in your input - There is unending employee turnover and reorganization - Coworkers are stuck in a never-ending loop of gossip and complaining - You feel increasingly isolated and believe you’re underpaid - You have been in the same role with the same title for 3+ years - Work stress is taking a toll on your mental and physical health These are all red flags of a toxic work environment. If you relate, it’s time to start looking for something better. But what does a great job look like? In your Dream Job: - You love the company culture. - You spend your days doing something that aligns with your passion, values, and personal goals. - You show up every day motivated. - You are surrounded by great people that inspire you. - You have a burning desire to achieve greater success. Just imagine how different — and much better — your life would be if you LOVED your 9-5? And imagine how great it would feel to be getting paid what you’re WORTH so you can live your Rich Life. How much better would you feel if you: Felt proud and excited to answer when someone asks, "What do you do?" Worked with people you respect and who respect you too Had the freedom to work from wherever you want Upgraded your flight, your hotel, your family vacation — and didn’t worry about the cost You shouldn’t feel like you’re“clocking in and clocking out” just to collect your paycheck. Most importantly: Your Dream Job perfectly fits your life TODAY. But what if you have no idea what your Dream Job is — or if it even exists? Define your Dream Job in 2 mins If I asked you “What does your Dream Job look like?” what would you say? Most people usually tell me things like: “I want to work with innovative companies, add value, and leverage my unique skills.” And I think, “Sounds nice, means nothing.” It gives you no clear sense of direction or where to start. You need to be ultra specific. Here’s a great example of a Dream Job description from one of my students: “I’m looking for a Creative Director role at an ad agency that works with major car brands and is 100% remote.” I love it! See how specific it gets — the type of company, lifestyle, even the location. Doing this exercise will help you get clear and honest about what you REALLY want from a career. So now it’s your turn. Grab a pen and paper and ask yourself this: - What is your Dream Role? - What is your Dream Company? - What kind of lifestyle do you want? [Ramit in Aman Tokyo hotel] Working in the Aman Tokyo hotel When you’ve got your answers, step back and reflect for a minute. Did you just describe your current job? If not, what are you going to do about it? Write down your answers. Bonus points if you send them to me — just reply to this email. I read every response. [Signature] P.S.
