Every day, I see people treat money management like their high school math
To view this email as a web page, [click here]() {NAME}, Every day, I see people treat money management like their high school math homework. They try to ignore it. But it's there. Unavoidable. Inevitable. You can't dodge it forever. Sooner or later, those unattended bills, pesky overdraft fees, and missed payments will hunt you down. It's time to take control. When I ask people why they donât have their money plans in place yet, I get tons of excuses. But a few classics that I hear over and over again are: - âItâs too hard.â
- âItâs too late now. I shouldâve started doing that when I was younger.â
- âI donât make enough money to manage it. I live paycheck to paycheck!â
- âI have too much debt right now.â
- âIâm worried about making a mistake.â Look, itâs normal to make mistakes with your money. Iâve bought the wrong book. Iâve bought the wrong shirt (and missed the return period). Iâve hired the wrong person. But the more experience I get with money, the more I realize these mistakes are a normal part of the game. Try to avoid every money mistake you could possibly make and youâll end up rigid and paralyzed. You can learn to be more flexible with money. If you make a few mistakes along the way? Guess what â you still grow. No more excuses Money is not something to run away from; it's a game-changer that shapes our lives. Once we get real and face the initial discomfort around money, we can use our money to rewrite our life stories. Excuses like "It's too hard" or "It's too late" won't cut it. Even if you live paycheck to paycheck or have mountains of debt, you can take control of your finances â you just need to follow the right system. Imagine actually enjoying managing your money, paying bills, and checking your bank balance without cringing. In personal finance, income level doesn't limit success. Just watch my Netflix show, "[How to Get Rich]()," to see the proof. In my [Money Coaching]() program, we tackle spending, savings, investments, and paying off debt, equipping you with strategies for financial mastery. It's time to take charge of your financial future. Maybe youâre wondering why this is necessary. I hear pushback all the time from people who say, âBut Ramit, money doesnât buy happiness.â You know what bugs me the most about that quote? It tries to trick you into settling. âHey, just be happy with what you got!â Come on. Here's the truth: Money CAN bring happiness - if we spend it on the things that matter most to us. The best thing is you can start today. Spend money on one thing that makes you happy. It doesnât matter how big or small it is. Get a massage, buy concert tickets, order dessert. Make an effort to spend money on one thing that you LOVE, and then pay attention to how it makes you feel. [Photo collage] How I use my money to invest in my happiness If you're open to testing it out, you could be blown away by the outcome. And thatâs just the start. Imagine finally paying off that credit card debt. Taking the vacation of your dreams. Paying the tab without hesitating. Buying the high-end item youâve had your eye on without having to wait â and hope â for a sale. Actively funding your retirement account and feeling safe about the future. Being the envy of your friends as they constantly ask how you DO it. When you join [Money Coaching](), youâll realize that your life can be more. Itâs not just about having money, itâs using that money to build your Rich Life. Later this week, Iâll go into more detail about how your money, spent in a way that you love, can make you happier.
