It’s Monday (again). How are you feeling? Stressed? Tired? Dreading another full To view this email as a web page, [click here]() {NAME}, It’s Monday (again). How are you feeling? Stressed? Tired? Dreading another full work week? We spend 8-10+ hours a day at our jobs. If you hate what you’re doing — or if it’s even just “okay” — how can you expect to live a Rich Life? If you’re reading this email now when you’re supposed to be working, consider this your wake up call — do you really want to be spending the next decade feeling stuck and babysat? Here’s 5 warning signs you need a new job: #1: You get the “Sunday Scaries,” bad If you find it hard to enjoy Sunday afternoons because you have anxiety or dread knowing you have to start another week at work the next day — then you’re not alone. According to a LinkedIn survey, 80% of professionals say they experience the Sunday Scaries. Guys, that's not OK! Freaking out on Sundays is not part of my Rich Life. And I’m guessing it’s not part of yours, either. You deserve to enjoy your weekends! [Schedule] #2: You’re underpaid Figuring out what you’re really worth is surprisingly hard. Your boss isn't going to email you and say, "Wow {NAME}, you've been doing such a good job here that I feel like I should let you know I'd happily pay an extra $20,000 a year just to keep you on the team." You have to figure it out on your own. I want to show you an easy way to do that: How many of the following are true for you? - You told yourself that if you worked hard, your boss would recognize you and give you a raise. It didn’t happen, so you feel rejected and undervalued. - You didn’t negotiate your salary when you got the job. You thought you would at performance reviews, but every pay conversation is frustrating and disappointing. - You know you should be paid more, but you can’t figure out exactly how. Can it happen at this job? A different job? What job? If you answered yes to ANY of these — it’s a warning sign you’re not being paid what you’re worth. But now is your chance to do something about it! The simple way to figure out how much you SHOULD be getting paid will only take a minute. Just use these 3 sites below. You’ll see the average salary ranges for your job title: [Payscale.com]()[Glassdoor.com]() [Salary.com]() Look up your job title now and how much you should be paid for your performance. I guarantee you’ll be surprised. #3: You’re worried you’ll lose your job You’ve probably seen it on the news — people are getting laid off left, right and center. Here’s one recap from the [New York Times]() and the list of companies laying off employees keeps growing. [Excerpt from New York Times] That’s just tech — but it’s spreading across all industries. If you feel ho-hum about your job and contribution, how do you think your boss feels? Or your boss's boss? It’s no wonder you feel like you could be next on the chopping block. Feeling worried about your job security is stressful. Here’s the secret: It’s often directly correlated to how stagnant your career has become. If you take a look at the people who love their job, they are the ones learning, growing, advancing, and always looking for ways to provide more value. That means they simply don't have the same worries about job security. #4: You dislike your team, your boss, or your company When was the last time your manager gave you meaningful feedback and recognition? Is your boss interested in your career development…or just in your work output? Do you feel like you’re being micromanaged? Are your ideas and opinions getting ignored? If you’re feeling disrespected, babysat, forgotten, or underappreciated, that's a surefire sign to start looking for a better job. It doesn’t feel good being just another face at a company that doesn’t align with your values, or another cog in the machine. Feeling unhappy and even bitter about your job is also the fast track to getting burnt out. Most people are surprised to find out burnout isn’t just about how much work you do, but also about how meaningful that work is. That’s why it’s so important to be working in a job where you feel valued. #5: You feel stagnant or stuck in your career Have you had the same job title or salary for over 3 years? Have you already passed the peak of your career? Have you just “settled”? Most people have not only settled in their career, but all areas of their life. In their finances: "Well, I pay my bills on time. I get to upgrade my phone every couple years which is nice. I still have lots of time to start investing. I’m getting by just fine." In their health:"Everyone's tired in the morning, right? Everyone needs 3-4 coffees to get through the day, right?" In their personal lives: "I take a vacation every 5 years. It's only a week, but sometimes I go somewhere nice…" They settle and spend the next 20, 30, 40 years trudging along, phoning it in. Accepting that being babysat by their boss is just part of life. Trying not to think about everything that could have been if they had just tried something new. The worst part is, most people stay where they’re at because they can’t even think of a way out. They simply feel smothered — or stuck — by their problem and do nothing about it. This is how they feel for most of their 40+ year careers. Look, guys…this is not normal. I believe that our future is bigger than our past. If any of these 5 warning signs resonated with you, get moving today! Just because your job feels stagnant today doesn't mean it needs to stay that way for years to come. You DESERVE to feel fulfilled, secure, inspired, and most of all, valued at work. It’s never too late to make a change for the better. Later this week, I’ll show you how to find and land a job you love. Stay tuned! [Signature] P.S. Most people unhappy in their jobs are underpaid.
