This week I’m going to talk about how to become GREAT at copywriting. To view this email as a web page, [click here]() {NAME}, This week I’m going to talk about how to become GREAT at copywriting. First, copywriting isn’t the same as traditional “writing” — you don't have to be Hemingway or Jane Austen to be successful. In fact, most people who consider themselves “good writers” actually make terrible copywriters. That’s why copywriting is in high demand. Because writing copy is all about writing how you TALK. Plus, communicating with people using compelling stories that makes them WANT to hear from you. It’s like an “invisible language” that persuades people in a natural way. Great copywriting sets you apart from everyone else: - At work. If I see 2 job candidates and one is a better writer, I’d hire the better writer every day. You can be great at your job, but if you can’t communicate, your career will plateau. - In dating. God, stop being boring. You can send better text messages and emails to your friends. A while back we rewrote the copy on this guy’s dating profile and got him 4x as many dates. - With your friends. You get two party invites, which one would you attend?: "Wanna watch the game? Brad's here" or "Hey, my BBQ Olympics party is on! You should come. We've got the rooftop patio reserved and I made a cocktail for you." Simple changes, instant results. While all these people out there are teaching weird marketing tricks and Instagram hacks to make money on the side, copywriting is a skill you can (1) easily get better at, (2) use to create a side hustle income, and (3), if you apply it to business, generate millions of dollars with. I built a following of millions of people — and an 8-figure business — by mixing strategic advice with compelling stories. Like jokes about Indian parents and how I think buffalo wings add more value to the world than life coaches. And look, copywriting isn’t going away any time soon, even with the advances in technology. Because telling good stories is one thing robots can’t do well. Let me give you an example: “Sarah walked down the empty street, feeling lost and alone. She had just moved to the area and was already missing her old home and friends. But as she rounded the corner, she heard laughter and music. She followed the noise and found a small group of locals gathered around a campfire. As soon as they saw Sarah, they invited her to join them. As the night went on, Sarah felt a sense of belonging she hadn't felt since her move. And while walking home that night, she felt happy knowing that this new town was the adventure she needed.” Yes — this is a story written by ChatGPT. I wanted to use this as an example to show you a huge mistake many writers make with their stories: being boring and giving away the ending too soon. Re-read that story again. See how it makes you yawn and ends so fast that it fails to grab your attention? I see this mistake over and over again. When you write stories in copy, you want to keep your readers on their toes and wanting more. Because it gives you the ability to influence and guide your reader towards a desired emotion and decision to buy. That’s why I recommend every piece of copy you write should include a story. In fact — you must! Because think about it. It feels natural, right? Not salesy? And it’s authentic. Which is what this is all about. Being your AUTHENTIC self. Not “authentic like Ramit” — but authentic like you. This is an incredibly powerful skill when you think about it. But what if you can’t write entertaining, interesting, and compelling stories? Today, you can easily learn how. I want to share with you my personal process. In this [“over-the-shoulder” tutorial](), I show you exactly how I go from a blank page to a finished email ready to send to hundreds of thousands of readers and generate income.
