You’ve probably seen the news about ChatGPT and other AI bots threatening to To view this email as a web page, [click here]() {NAME}, You’ve probably seen the news about ChatGPT and other AI bots threatening to disrupt the online world. So should you be worried? Especially if you have an online business or you’re in marketing? It depends. Let me show you what I mean. The New York Times released an article this month about how this new technology could upend many online businesses. But for companies that figure out how to work with it, AI could be a boon. You can read all about it here: [The Chatbots Are Here, and the Internet Industry Is in a Tizzy]() Google is one of many companies that have been developing a new type of chatbot called Bard that can riff on almost any topic thrown its way. But they’ve taken a relatively cautious approach after years of controversy over their AI efforts, from internal arguments over bias and accuracy to the public firing last year of a staffer who claimed that its AI had achieved sentience. [How Google Became Cautious of AI and Gave Microsoft an Opening]() And while Microsoft is also coming out with their own technology… it seems like from this article I found, they may have a lot of work to do before their tool becomes viable. In early testing, the Microsoft bot Bing AI led to “creepy conversation” with users -- that’s quite concerning. [Microsoft’s Bing A.I. is producing creepy conversations with users]() No matter your opinion, the reality is… Good copywriting is NEVER going away. It doesn’t matter how tech-savvy you may be, there are some things that AI just can't do better than a human — like writing the kind of copy that works. What I'm talking about is strategically crafting offers, developing great products, creating long-form sales pages, devising upsell strategies... really anything to do with great copy. [Copy]() This copy made 5,590 sales in one month. This AI stuff isn't just about pressing some buttons and seeing what comes out -- it's about problem-solving, critical thinking, and having a deep understanding of the context. And sure, you can use AI to produce a first draft in record time. But that's all it is: a FIRST draft. There’s no getting around the fact that turning that “mess” into something worthwhile still requires a solid copywriter with mad skills and a sharp eye. In essence: Low-level writer + AI first draft = NOT great for any type of copy. High-level writer + AI first draft, though? That might do the trick. And if you want something really special –you’d be better off having someone top level work their magic from scratch. Bottom line: AI is great and all… but it won’t replace the real pros anytime soon. So what are your thoughts on AI? I’d love to hear your opinion. Just hit reply and let me know — I read every response that comes in.
