Today, I want to share with you 7 things I’ve learned recently. What I’ve learned from one year of the I Will Teach You To Be Rich podcast I can’t believe it — it’s been one year since we launched the [I Will Teach You To Be Rich podcast]()! What a year. We’ve shared interviews with 50 couples, and we’ve gotten more than 3 million downloads. Thank you for your support! [3 million podcast downloads]() For years, people had been asking me to start a podcast, but I resisted. I didn’t have a compelling reason to start one. Until my wife and I started talking about a prenup before we got married. Wow! It was difficult! And if it was difficult for me — I know money, it’s what I do for a living — I knew it must be hard for everyone else to talk about money in their relationships. I wanted to hear how other couples talked about money. I love the diversity of my guests. Immigrants, people who grew up poor, people who grew up wealthy but lost it all, people with hundreds of thousands of dollars of debt, people with a $10 million net worth, and more. [In this week’s episode](), I share the top 5 lessons I’ve learned from speaking to couples over the past year. I include excerpts of some of the most gripping conversations. Here are the top five lessons I’ve learned. - Stop saying you’re “bad at money.” - Spend more — guilt free. - Beware of money propaganda (especially in real estate). - Bringing up money shouldn’t start a fight. In order to be successful, both of you have to be involved in your money. - You have to have a shared Rich Life vision. [Listen to the entire episode]() to hear a deeper examination of these five topics. You’ll hear ACTUAL conversations with REAL couples as they work through these issues. It’s fascinating to listen to these behind-closed-doors discussions that most people never hear. If you haven’t listened to the podcast yet, this is a great episode to start with. You’ll get important insight into the common issues people face with money, as well as some tools for improving your conversations about money. [Click here to listen](). Two classes I took on my 40th-birthday trip to Mexico Recently, I took a trip to Mexico to celebrate my 40th birthday. My Rich Life includes bringing friends and family together, giving them the gift of leisure. For this trip, it meant a long, slow trip together with lots of free time in a beautiful place where everyone feels comfortable. I chose Mexico, and it was a blast. Since I LOVE to learn, we took two classes while we were there. 1. A ceviche class. I like cooking classes because they're tactile. You get your hands involved. There's something magical about people building something together, and something beautifully primal about sharing food together. [Ceviche class] In this case, it was more of a spectator sport. We watched, they cooked, we ate. 2. A cocktail-making class. Making cocktails is a fascinating and intricate art. [Cocktail mixing class] Look at the glassware, colors, and presentation! I love it. One thing we learned: Making cocktails is not just about a cocktail shaker — it’s also about tapping it! [Cocktail mixing class] Why I love learning At age 21, I never wanted to be one of those “boring” adults who is all work and no play. But at 27, that’s exactly what I had become. So I made a vow. I wanted to make NEW and INTERESTING a regular part of my life. And that’s what I’ve been doing since. I put together a program — [Teach Yourself Anything]() — that shows you everything I know about how to make learning easy, quick, and fun. I show you how the world's greatest learners get “good enough” at any skill in less than 30 days, even if… - They’re busy with work or family obligations - They’ve struggled “sticking with it” - They don’t know what they want to learn yet! If you’ve tried to pick up new skills in the past but got frustrated with the vague, messy process… If you’ve taken classes that didn’t measure up … or you didn’t stick with it… If you’ve struggled to find the time to practice… Or if you want a new hobby and just don’t know where to start… Then Teach Yourself Anything will finally give you the precise, actionable system to explore and build any new skill into your everyday life — without adding commitments to your already busy life.
