To view this email as a web page, [click here]() {NAME}, The tiniest annoyances can derail an entire day. Consider my garbage can. It seems like an innocent household item. But for years, it drove me mad. The shape didnât quite fit the cabinet where I stored it. So if I wanted to throw out a piece of trash I had to shimmy it out, then jiggle it back into place until it fit in the cabinet again. I know what youâre thinking. In the grand scheme of current global problems, an ill-fitted garbage can isnât high on the list. But think about it. How much do these tiny annoyances add up throughout the course of a day? One or two of them in a day isnât so bad. Thatâs life sometimes. But if I have to deal with something multiple times a day, it becomes a hassle. (I can feel my blood boiling and stress levels rising as I write this!) Pretty soon, it becomes âDamn, I want to throw this garbage can out the window!â Itâs the old saying, âDeath by a thousand paper cuts.â Anyways, I got my garbage can issue fixed. I went to my friendâs apartment and saw that she had this beauty: [image] I asked where she got it and then had one installed the very next day. Boom! Problem fixed forever. My days went so much smoother. I asked my readers what their daily annoyances were. And most importantly, how they dealt with them. Here are two of my favorite answers that anyone can apply: âI got tired of coming home and realizing we forgot to turn on the light, and fumbling with the keys in the dark. Replaced old school outdoor bulb with LED light. We can leave this sucker on 24/7 and it still uses less electricity than the old bulb.â âMatt Inglot âI have a duplicate of every cable I need for travel -- iPod, Lightning, FitBit, and a USB wall plug. I have found this to be an odd sort of luxury, not to have to pack and unpack my travel bag. Also, itâs great for not forgetting. A few dollars and headaches are history.â âPrescott Perez-Fox These are great! Hereâs another thing that immediately added hours back to my day: changing how I wrote and responded to emails. I used to spend hours managing emails. I had to schedule meetings, follow up with team members, network with interesting people, and taunt the trolls who emailed me. It got really messy, really fast. And before I knew it, my entire day was gone. So like the weirdo I am, I tested different approaches, and eventually developed a system. Now I can manage thousands of emails a day in under an hour. Hereâs how: 1. Use Gmail keyboard shortcuts Look for the âkeyboard shortcutsâ option in Gmailâs settings to see a list of all of the keyboard shortcuts available. If you donât use Gmail, most email apps have these, usually under settings â and you can usually customize them to match what works best for you. 2. My favorite Gmail keyboard shortcuts c -> compose a new message r -> reply a -> reply all f -> forward j -> go to the next email in the folder m -> mute neverending, unimportant email threads (a life saver!) 3. Use apps to create a system Your energy and focus is priceless. Donât waste it trying to âremember to follow up.â Many email apps have a button you can click to âremind me to follow up.â If yours doesnât, use a service like Sanebox. Or create events in Google Calendars or tasks as reminders to circle back. 4. Pre-written scripts for emails you write a lot Hereâs an example: Please let me know 3 times that work well for you, and I can schedule it. -Ramit This is a super simple email script that prevents endless back and forth on finding agreeable times. Hereâs everything summed up for you: [Image] If you found this useful in any way, please share it. [Signature] P.S. If youâre interested, I have an entire set of email scripts I use. Iâve used them to connect with VIPs, stay in touch with people, prevent time-wasting Zoom meetings, and much more. These scripts will save you dozens of hours of staring at a blank screen and wondering what to write. I tested them over the course of a couple years, so I know they work.
