YOU need to decide “Is this something I really want to do?” I get a lot of questions from people who ask, “Ramit, what do you think about an idea like this?” On the surface, it seems like a simple question. But what they’re really saying is, “Hey, Random Guy on the internet wearing a cashmere sweater, can you say it’s OK for me to go and start this business? Because I need your blessing.” You don’t need my permission! It’s your permission to give yourself. This is very different from what we were taught as kids. Starting in kindergarten, we had to raise our hand. “Mrs. Kundle, can I go to the bathroom?” We had to get permission for everything we did.
