How Earnable student Perla Cardenas went from "no idea whatsoever" to a growing To view this email as a web page, [click here]() Today in The Rich Life newsletter: - [How Earnable student Perla Cardenas went from “no idea whatsoever” to a growing business in less than two years](#module1) - [I share a behind-the-scenes look at my business — and let you listen in on a $1,000 sales call](#module2) - [Send me your questions about starting a business](#module3) []“I knew that I had something that my clients didn’t and I could help them” “I had no idea whatsoever. Not industry, not types of business — zero clue.” That was Perla Cardenas’s situation when she joined Earnable in March 2020. Two years later, Perla has a clearly defined vision for [Latina Strength](), her nutrition-based coaching business, and a plan for growing her business. [Perla Cardenas] Let’s look at how she did it. Perla’s husband is in the military. That meant she had to change jobs frequently, and most of the jobs did not pay well. “They were paying me $25k or $30k per year. I was getting really bored in my positions after six months or eight months and couldn’t advance because we moved so frequently.” After one move, her husband was away for four months. “We were already very established with how we were doing our personal finances,” Perla said. “It started getting me thinking about what my Rich Life is and how my career fits into that.” Perla was in a toxic job with no room for advancement. But she wasn’t ready to jump full time into her new business until she was confident that she could make a profit. “I was perfectly fine letting it grow and working full time,” she said. When a friend recommended her for a job, Perla jumped on it. The mentality she learned in Earnable helped her negotiate salary and benefits. Not only did she get a $20k raise, she was also able to negotiate flexibility. The company knew her husband was in the military. They told Perla, “When it’s time for you to move again, we'll be flexible with you working from home.” Within three months, she also got promoted. “I’m not worried now when we move again. I have the choice to focus on my business or continue working at this company remotely.” Yet a business made her nervous. “I didn’t know if I was cut out to be a business owner,” Perla said. “But doing something is better than nothing, and figuring it out along the way.” YES! Read that again: “Doing something is better than nothing.” This is the mindset of my best students. It’s the mindset of the most successful people. When she joined Earnable, Perla struggled with what business to start but was aided by the lessons on finding a profitable business idea. Perla pointed out that “the very first playbook says that if someone is willing to pay you $20, run with that idea and see how it goes. That was always my mentality. I had no idea what I was doing.” “I’d been into health and fitness my entire life,” Perla said. “I grappled back and forth whether I wanted to do that or not.” [Perla Cardenas] Perla faced something most new business owners face: imposter syndrome. “I didn’t consider myself an expert in the field,” she said. “I had a degree in communications and business administration. Nothing in the realm of health and fitness.” At first, Perla planned to help brides lose weight for their weddings. That’s the idea she worked with as she went through Earnable. Although she got clients, “it really wasn’t clicking for me,” she said. One of Perla’s friends suggested that she help Latinas who want to get stronger. Perla thought it was a great idea. “From there, it just skyrocketed,” she said. “Things started to make sense on how I wanted to help people in the health space and a deeper meaning than just losing weight.” Perla started getting clients and steadily increasing her rates. [Perla Cardenas] Here’s a big reason why she was successful: “One of the playbooks talks about the value that you give. So even though someone pays you $20, you deliver ten times the value,” she said. “Even though I was very low in self-esteem, even though I lacked a lot of confidence, I knew that I could revert back to the knowledge that I had. I knew that I had something that my clients didn’t and I could help them.” Perla continues to work on her business while working full time. She’s exploring a membership program that will help her grow her business at a faster rate than one-on-one work. She’s dipping back into Earnable to help the business grow. “I want to get my official website up, start writing out content and creating my email list. I want to start working on that aspect of the business.” I love it. From “no idea whatsoever” to a clear plan to grow her business going forward. Tomorrow, we’ll look at how owning her own business has allowed Perla to expand her Rich Life. You’ve heard Perla talk about Earnable, and now I want to share with you a few sneak peeks into the program so you can see why Perla loves it so much. []The details matter One of my personal pet peeves with so much advice floating around the internet is how vague it is. "Save more." On what? There's only so much you can cut. (But there's no limit to what you can earn.) "Be confident!" OK, sure, but that doesn't help much. What exactly should I do and say? This vagueness is doubly annoying in business training. "Build passive income." Sounds nice, but what exactly does that look like? How do you actually make money on autopilot? This is where Earnable shines — by demystifying the process of starting and growing a business. Step by step, Earnable shows you exactly what to do and how to do it (as well as what you DON'T have to worry about). I'll give you two examples, straight from Earnable: #1: How does an online business actually work? Watch how someone finds us on Google, how they join our email list, and how they eventually buy for $2,388. [Here's the link](). [Behind the scenes of a $2,388 customer]() As you watch, you’ll see how you can engineer the same thing for yourself and build an asset that lets you share your passion with the world as you sleep. Once you see the inner workings of our business — which we’ve spent years developing and millions of dollars testing — you can use the same steps, tools, templates, checklists, and systems to build it into your own business. No need to reinvent the wheel. #2: Listen to a $1,000 sales call When was the last time you had the chance to listen in on a real sales call? Never. In Earnable, you can. We included a level of specificity you cannot find anywhere else. [Like listening to actual sales calls](). In this Earnable sneak peek, listen in while I speak to a real person. I ask about their needs, we talk, and eventually they buy. Throughout the video, I’ll pause the call to highlight exactly what I’m doing on the call and why. [The secrets of authentic selling]() As you can see, the material in Earnable is totally different from anything you’ll find in other programs. []What’s holding you back from starting your business? If you’ve wanted to start your own business ([as 90% of you do]()), what’s holding you back? I want to help. I know that sometimes you just get stuck and need an expert to help. So reply to this email with your questions. I’ll include answers in Thursday’s email. [Signature] WHAT TO DO NEXT JOIN: Earnable Live is now available! Text with a very high Flesch reading ease score (about 100) is straightforward and easy to read, with short sentences and no words of more than two syllables.
