How just one piece of advice can change your life To view this email as a web page, [click here]() Today in The Rich Life newsletter: - [How just one piece of advice can change your life](#module1) - [How to "dial up" your Rich Life (video)](#module2) - [One of my favorite vacations](#module3) - [I have a question for you…with one condition](#module4) []You don't have to do it alone When I was younger, I was super skinny. I would joke about it, but I was actually pretty self-conscious. By the age of 22, I was resigned to the fact that I’d always be skinny and get comments like “Wow, if you turn sideways, you’ll disappear!” Ugh. [In my 20s] In my 20s Sometimes I'd get inspired and go to the gym. But each time I did, I’d walk in nervously. (I used to get really anxious about new gyms — where’s the locker room? Will my lock fit? How do I know where the right machines are? Are people going to laugh at me?) And then, since I wasn’t sure what to do, I’d use the same old machines. The treadmill. Some random chest machine. Then awkwardly walk around a leg machine (praying nobody noticed me) … and eventually go right back to the same old stuff I always did. No system. No plan. Just random machines — usually whatever was open. No wonder I always gave up after a month. No wonder I’d say, “This doesn’t work for me.” I LITERALLY HAD NO PLAN AND NO HELP, AND I EXPECTED A MIRACLE. I knew I needed help. So finally, one week, I walked into a gym and asked to speak to a personal trainer. In our FIRST workout together, he asked me to show him how I’d been doing a specific exercise (a lat pulldown). I sat down and did it. He said, “OK, good job. I want you to lower your shoulders so you can really get the benefit of this.” With that ONE change, I instantly felt the difference. If he hadn’t pointed out the right way to do it, I never would have learned — and I would have wasted my time for years and years. This is the power of learning from someone who knows what they're talking about. This is the power of not trying to do everything yourself. You can see this in fitness — like my story. You can see it in people's careers. You can see this in business, too. For some reason, people LOVE to try to figure things out on their own! Instead of getting help, instead of learning from people who are experts in that area, we try to go solo. Best case scenario, this wastes a lot of time. Worst case (and most common outcome), it just fails. Don't do this! If a goal is important to you — get help! []This week: “Ramit coaching bites” on Instagram This week, I'm going to be posting some short, fun casual videos on my Instagram stories. Quick coaching sessions on how to build your Rich Life. Some topics I'm thinking about covering: - How to "dial up" your Rich Life ([this is today's video — check it out]()) - How to escape the rat race - Building an asset: what it is and why you need one What else would you want to hear my quick thoughts on? Reply to this email and let me know. I'd love to record and share more of these "coaching bites." []“I’ll handle planning the dinners” Cass and I love to travel. A while back, we visited Mexico. We stayed at one of my favorite hotels and had a wonderful time. [Cass and me] Cass and me While we were there, we said, "This would be a great place to come back to with our friends.” So a few years later, we picked a date and I emailed a few friends. Here’s what the email said: We want to spend time together! Here’s our plan: We’re going for 5 days on these dates to Rosewood Mayakoba. My vision is: 3 dinners together, the rest is total free time. You might lounge by the pool, you might work out, you might rent a boat, whatever you want. I’ll handle planning the dinners. You just come! -Ramit And guess what? They came! [Photos before one of our 3 dinners together]   [Photos before one of our 3 dinners together] Photos before one of our 3 dinners together. I love these photos. Look at all the smiles! We had incredible dinners, laughed all night, and made memories that Cass and I will never forget. [Perfect vacation food] Want to know how this isn’t a stock photo of perfect vacation food? Check out those sweet shades in the middle of the table. Yep. Mine. It was wonderful to be in such a magical place with such good friends. [Enjoying the pool] Enjoying the pool. Did it cost a lot? Yes. But this trip encompassed many of the things that are important to us: travel, relationships, luxury. We wanted to do it. I love taking trips like this. Cass and I value them so much that we take at least one 6-week vacation each year. I’m able to do this because my business runs on autopilot. I have a great team in place to take care of things while I’m away. I know they’ll be able to handle anything that comes up. That means I’m free to relax or explore — whatever I want to do. I would never have envisioned this when I started IWT, but it was the best decision I ever made. []I want to hear from you — on one condition Whether your Rich Life is travel, like mine, or something else, it doesn’t matter. What matters is that you’re taking steps to live your Rich Life. The biggest step I took in building my Rich Life was starting IWT. I’m so glad I did. Having my own business has allowed me the freedom to do what I love. How would having your own business allow you to live your Rich Life? I want to hear from you, on one condition: You have to be SPECIFIC. Really think about what having your own business would mean for your Rich Life. Reply to this email and let me know.
